Of Cats, Code, and the Second Gold Medal Run

The plan this morning was simple: squeeze in a nap after the early morning feline Olympics. Well. Wanting and doing are running on two entirely different operating systems, unfortunately.

But fine. To make up for it, the cat spent the rest of the day in a coma. I get it, totally—elite athletes need their recovery phases, after all. I, on the other hand, got to work. A bit of thinking, shuffling some Python and RabbitMQ packets around. Someone has to pay for the premium wet food.

You wouldn’t believe it, but I am looking forward to my bed with almost hysterical anticipation. Just sleep, before the madness starts all over again tomorrow morning. Before that, though, I sat down with the book for a bit—part two of “The Price of Applause”. The scene was critical: Leo, Max, and Klaus are just about to confess everything to Sandra. The tension is rising, the air is crackling… and guess who decided to inaugurate the second round of his personal Summer Games at that exact moment?

It’s probably about gold again. I don’t know who he’s competing against—presumably an invisible demon or a dust bunny—and I won’t find out. All I know is: I hope the award ceremony is over soon. An eighteen-hour day just needs to be allowed to die eventually.

Good night.
