1. The Essentials First (My Word as an Author)

I am an author and computer scientist, not a data broker. Therefore, the following rules apply to this website:

  • No Tracking: I do not track who you are or where you come from.
  • No Cookies: This website does not set any cookies.
  • No Ads: I do not integrate any third-party advertising networks.

Since this website must technically reside on a server, things happen in the background that are beyond my control (hosting). I explain this here transparently.

Hosting by External Service Provider

This website is not hosted on my own computers, but on the servers of an external service provider (Hoster). The personal data that is technically processed on this website is located on the Hoster’s servers.

Data Processing Agreement: I have concluded a contract for order processing (AVV) with the above-mentioned provider in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR. This is a contract required by data protection law, which ensures that the provider processes the personal data of my website visitors only according to my instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

Data Collection by the Hoster

Since I only rent web space (“Shared Hosting”), I have no physical access to the servers and limited control over the technical processes there.

According to its own information, the Hoster collects data about every access to the server (so-called server log files) on its own responsibility. These access data include:

  • Name of the accessed website, file, date, and time of access
  • Transferred data volume
  • Notification of successful access
  • Browser type and version, the user’s operating system
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • IP address and the requesting provider

Storage duration: IP addresses are stored by the Hoster for a maximum of 7 days to detect and ward off attacks, and are then anonymized or deleted. Data whose further retention is required for evidentiary purposes is exempt from deletion until the respective incident has been finally clarified.

Legal basis: The collection of this data is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. I have a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of my website – for this purpose, the server log files must be recorded.

Handling of Server Logfiles

Since Strato stores IP addresses for security reasons for a maximum of 7 days and automatically anonymizes them afterwards, a subsequent assignment to a specific person is technically impossible for me anyway.

I do not use the log files provided by the hoster (e.g., for error analysis) to monitor visitors, nor do I merge them with other data sources.

For your rights as a data subject, this means: Requests for information or deletion regarding these specific, temporary log files will inevitably lead nowhere with me after this short period has expired, as the data is then already anonymized and a personal reference can no longer be established.

Local Storage

I do not use cookies on this website, but I do use the so-called “Local Storage” of your browser for technical reasons. Data is stored locally on your device.

How it works: Your browser stores settings (e.g., menu status or design preference) directly on your device. As soon as you visit the page again, your browser independently reads this information to restore the view.

Legal Basis & Necessity: This storage is technically strictly necessary to provide the service requested by you (error-free display of the website). Therefore, it is carried out without consent in accordance with Sect. 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications-Digital-Services-Data-Protection-Act).

Important: There is no transmission of this data to my web server. The information remains exclusively on your device and is processed only by the program code (JavaScript) in your browser. As the site operator, I have no technical possibility to view this data.

Cookies & Analytics

I use no cookies on this website. I do not use any analysis tools (such as Google Analytics or Matomo) that record your behavior on my page.

If you write me an email, I save your message and your email address to be able to answer you. The processing of this data is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in processing inquiries). This data stays with me and is not passed on to third parties. You can write to me at any time if you want me to delete your email.

3. Your Rights

According to the law (GDPR), you have various rights regarding your data (information, correction, deletion). Since I do not store any personal data about you – apart from any emails you write to me – requests for the deletion of usage data technically lead nowhere with me. However, I will be happy to confirm this to you personally in case of doubt.

Since my actual center of work and life is located in Bavaria, the following supervisory authority is responsible for me, to which you can turn in the event of a complaint:
